During the battle of Jericho, Achan saw some things that caught his attention. A beautiful Babylonian robe, a bar of gold and some silver. He thought about it for a moment. He knew that Joshua had said the gold and silver was to go into the Lord’s treasury; but, this was a small amount compared to all the valuable items. He wouldn’t be able to tell anybody about this, so he buried the items in his tent.
God knew Achan’s heart and that he chose to keep and hide that which belonged to God. Achan’s choice had consequences for him and his family and the Israelite community. [Reflection based on the Bible Reference – Joshua 7:20-21]
