Joab, the Commander of King David’s army; the man who defied King David’s orders and killed Absalom, David’s son, as he hung defenseless from the branch of a tree; the man who chose to support Adonijah in his bid to declare himself the replacement king for King David; has just received the news that Adonijah has been executed at the order of King Solomon and Abiathar has been dismissed from his position as High Priest. What will happen to Joab, who was part of the rebellion by Adonijah? Joab fled to the tent of the Lord and clung to the horn of the altar. Would this spare his life?
