King Solomon sent for Shimei and instructed him to build a house in Jerusalem and stay in Jerusalem. The day he left Jerusalem he would receive a death sentence. Shimei agreed to these conditions and lived in Jerusalem for three years. At which time, two of his slaves ran away to the city of Gath. When he was told where his slaves were located he saddled up his donkey and he went to Gath and brought his slaves back to Jerusalem. When Solomon learned of this, he summoned Shimei and reminded him of the oath Shimei had taken. David recounted the evil Shimei had done and pronounced that God would repay Shimei for his wrongdoings. King Solomon gave the order to his Commander and Shimei was struck down and died.
