Matthew, also known as Levi the Tax Collector, was called by Jesus to become a disciple. Later, he wrote a letter in which he said, “This is how the birth of Jesus, the Messiah, came about…All this took place to fulfill what the Lord hath said through the prophet: ‘The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel.’” [Reflection based on the Bible Reference – Matthew 1:18-23]
