Solomon asked God for discernment, to distinguish between right and wrong. God responded by granting Solomon with greater wisdom than any other person, either before or after. Twenty years later, after the Temple and Solomon’s palace were completed, God reminded Solomon that the peace and prosperity that He provided remained conditional upon Solomon’s continued obedience to Him.
