Although, Ahab had turned his back on God and worshipped Baal, he was impressed with what he had seen this day. All day long the prophets of Baal and Asherah cried out to their gods to bring down fire on their sacrifice, but nothing happened. Then with a simple prayer by Elijah to God there was an amazing display of fire that consumed his sacrifice, the water drenched wood and stones and the water in the trenches around the altar. And then he witnessed the Israelites turn on the prophets of Baal and Asherah and slaughtered every one of them. And look at the rain coming down.
If Ahab thought Jezebel would be impressed, he was wrong. Jezebel was furious. She sent a messenger to Elijah to tell him he was as good as dead. “It’s either your life or mine.” [Reflection based on the Bible Reference – 1 Kings 19:1-2]
