“What are you doing here, Elijah? The Lord asked. “I’ve been very zealous for the Lord God, Almighty; but, the Israelites have rejected Your covenant, they’ve torn down Your altars, and they’ve put Your prophets to death. And now they are trying to kill me, too,” Elijah responded.
“Watch!” the Lord said. First, it was a powerful wind that tore the mountain apart and shattered rocks; then, there was an earthquake; and finally a fire; but God was not in any of these. And then, in a gentle whisper, God told Elijah to anoint Hazael king of Aram (Syria), anoint Jude king of Israel and anoint Elisha to be Elijah’s successor.
