These were troubled times for Judah. God was displeased with many of the leaders and people because they had turned their back on God and worshipped pagan gods. Jehoiachin’s father, King Jehoiakim, was a casualty of an invasion by the Babylonians. Following this, eighteen year old Jehoiachin was established as the king.
Jehoiachin’s reign was limited to a little over three months. At that time, the Babylonians again attacked Jerusalem; and Jehoiachin, his mother and a number of court officials surrendered. These individuals along with about ten thousand more people were taken as captives to Babylon. [Reflection is based on the Bible Reference – 2 Kings 24:8-16]
