In the land of Hebron, a conversation took place between Abram and God. Abram stated that his large estate would one day be passed to his servant, because he and his wife, Sarai had no children. But, God replied to Abram, “Look up at the sky and count the stars—if you can. This is how many your offspring will be”.
Nearly ten years later, when Abram was ninety-nine years old, and Sarah ninety years old, God repeated the promise and changed the name of Abram to Abraham and the name of Sarai to Sarah. As God promised, Abraham and Sarah became the parents of Isaac. Abraham is called the father of the Jewish nation.
Hebrews 11:8 states, “By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as an inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.”
