The phrase “King of the Jews” kept ringing in Herod’s ears. He was the king and not about to let anybody or anything take that away from him. He devised a scheme whereby he would inform the travelers that he was interested in worshipping this child and that they should go to Bethlehem and then return to him so that he could make arrangements for the trip.
