On the eighth day, when Elizabeth presented her baby for circumcision, it was customary to name the child. The priest was prepared to name him after his father, Zacharias; but, Elizabeth said, “No, his name is John!” “But no one in the family has that name,” the priest responded; and he turned to Zacharias for guidance.
