One day Mary, who was engaged (betrothed) to Joseph, was startled at the sudden appearance of an angel. The angel reassured her by saying, “Don’t be afraid, I have good news for you.” The “good news” was that she would give birth to the Messiah. “But, would Joseph believe her?” she thought… “and what about the people in Nazareth?” She had learned that her cousin, Elizabeth, was six months pregnant…perhaps she would like some company until the baby is born.
