Joseph, the favorite son of Jacob, was gifted by God with visions of future events. Jacob was more than willing to share his visions with his brothers, who were less than impressed.
On one occasion, his brothers saw an opportunity get rid of an inconvenient problem by selling Joseph to a caravan of traders on their way to Egypt. Years later after employment as a servant and an occupant of a prison cell on false charges, God used Pharaoh to promote Joseph to the Number 2 position in Egypt. In this position, Joseph was responsible for overseeing the management of food resources during a seven year famine. A famine which resulted in his brothers coming to Egypt to buy grain for their flocks.
Joseph forgave his brothers, saying, “It was not you that sent me here, but God.”
