“We will obey God and do everything he has commanded,” the Israelites said. They said this in response to the words Moses read to them…words that came from God, just a short time ago. Now, they haven’t seen Moses for many days; and they don’t know what happened to him.
“Aaron, make us an image of a god who will lead and protect us. Nobody knows what happened to Moses,” they said. Surprisingly, he said, “Everybody, bring me your gold rings and I’ll melt them and mold them into the shape of a young bull.”
