God was, is and always will be; time without beginning or end. When God willed that the world we know should be created, He spoke. At the sound of His voice, the sun and moon; earth and sky; food bearing trees and vegetation; land and water; and living creatures were created. And it was perfect, because God created it.
Within this world, God created a paradise of life-sustaining plants and trees. The perfect place for His next creation…a man. A perfect man, because he was created by God. A man formed from the earth, infused with the breath of God. A man to whom God could talk and listen. A man with whom He could fellowship. A man that could love and worship Him by choice. And God named this man Adam.
It was a wonderful relationship between God and Adam. They would walk and talk daily. Adam would share his experiences of the day, the names he had given to the living creatures and his adoration for his creator. A characteristic which God embedded into Adam was the freedom to choose. The choice to do God’s will or not. As part of Adam’s choice, was the instruction from God that he could eat from any of the trees in the garden except the tree in the middle of the garden…the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
Love and obedience were foremost in Adam’s attitude. But, always, there was the forbidden tree in the middle of the garden. [Reflection based the Bible Reference: Genesis 1:1-2:17]
