When Joseph’s brothers were but a short distance away from Joseph’s palace they were overtaken by the Egyptian authorities, led by the palace manager. The palace manager demanded to know who had stolen the Governor’s personal silver cup.
A search of all the grain sacks revealed that the silver cup was in Benjamin’s sack. For this crime, the palace manager said Benjamin was to become his slave and the rest of the brothers were free to continue their journey home.
Would his brothers abandon Benjamin as they had treated Joseph? This is what Joseph wanted to determine. [Reflection based on the Bible Reference – Genesis 44:1-17]
